Reporting to the Grazing Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to lead farm operations, assist with managing staff, and ensure the productivity and profitability of our farm while prioritizing animal healthcare and welfare.Key Responsibilities:Day-to-day, you'll have a strong focus on pasture, water and nutrient management, and cropping.
You'll have a passion for animal production and appreciate the importance of animal welfare and health and safety.
You'll be excited to be working within a high performing team of 4 across 850ha irrigated platform on State Highway 7, finishing circa 4000 head of beef cattle per year and 1500 contract grazersOverseeing various stock classes, mustering, coordinating movements, and keeping records.Optimizing pasture production, re-grassing paddocks, and implementing cropping policies.Monitoring animal health, administering animal health treatments, handling Ag-Chem products safely, and maintaining records.Maintaining equipment, managing pests, general farm maintenance, and using vehicles effectively.Leading a high-performing team, training junior staff, participating in performance discussions, and committing to cultural leadership and safety.Leading safe work practices, complying with policies, recording incidents, and identifying hazards.At least 3 years of experience in the farming sectorStrong stock management and animal husbandry skillsExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesCommitment to environmental sustainabilityHigh personal standards of integrity, discipline, and attention to detailWillingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and practicesUnderstanding of, or eagerness to learn, Ngai Tahu values and cultural practicesTe Runanga Group is comprised of the Office of Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu and our commercial arm Ngai Tahu Holdings, which includes tourism, seafood, forestry, farming, property, and investment businesses.
