About the RoleSSU is responsible for the cleaning, packing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices for our customers.
This includes theatres, community Health and external customers.
We have a great working environment and you will gain knowledge of how instruments are used in Theatre.
Key responsibilities of the role: Decontamination of reusable medical devicesPacking of surgical instrumentsSterilisation of instrumentsDealing with the customer on a day to day basis About the ServiceSterilising Units are the heart of the hospital; our hands hold the commitment of excellence.
We provide sterile equipment for 23 operating theatres plus district nurses and our external customers.
We are a great team of 65 staff, who all take the role of Technicians seriously but also know how to laugh.
This department decontaminates and disinfects instruments; wraps sets and sterilises instruments for theatres to use, and checks the correct operation of instruments and complicated sets prior to use by surgeons.
About youSkills and experience you'll need to be considered for the role: Experience in a Sterilising Unit is preferred but not essentialsL3/4 Sterilising Certificate or will work towards gainingGood computer skillsExcellent communication skillsSelf-motivated and trustworthy Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
