The role of FSSO is to provide customer service for our Front Counter based in Whakatane. Every day you will be dealing with challenging situations that need to be approached with professionalism, respect, empathy, and in a positive manner. You will be welcoming customers into the station and ensuring their enquiries are understood and handled appropriately.
The role requires someone with excellent customer focus, the ability to be part of a high-performing team, attention to detail, and a can-do attitude.
The role of an FSSO provides operational and administrative support to Police, which includes but is not limited to front counter customer service, data entry, use of Police systems, typing, and file management.
The role may entail you relieving the SSO position in either Kawerau or Opotiki Police Station.
Key Accountabilities:
The ability to deal with challenging individuals in a customer service environment
A sound knowledge of computer applications, in particular NIA and Microsoft suites
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask
Prioritise workflow
Manage time effectively to complete multiple files and meet deadlines
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

To be eligible for this role, you may be asked to obtain and maintain a national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.
To be eligible for this role, you must obtain and maintain a CONFIDENTIAL / SECRET / TOP SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or
A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.
To be eligible for this role, you must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET SPECIAL national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 15 years, or
A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 15 years, or
A citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 15 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $63,526 and $66,312 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
