We're New Zealand's fourth largest electricity network company. We manage five electricity networks across the diverse and spectacular lower South Island—the best part of New Zealand. We pride ourselves on delivering safe, efficient, and reliable power to southern communities.
The Stewart Island Power Station is unique on our network. As The Station Operator you will be part of a small dedicated team who coordinate and complete tasks and projects such as:
Regular maintenance and monitoring of the diesel generator sets
Construction and maintenance of the overhead and underground distribution network
Maintain the station buildings, street lighting and metering
Liaise with our customers, including new customer connections
Participate on the fault response roster
Preferred Skills and Experience
Registered Electrician or a Distribution Line Mechanic
Mechanically minded, with an interest in the electricity distribution industry
Current Class 1 driver's licence is required and preferable to hold a Class 2 driver's licence
Enjoy working outdoors as part of a small team
Basic computer skills
This is a specialised role, and you will be supported to undertake further training and/or gain further qualifications to carry out the full requirements of this position.
Relocation and short-term accommodation assistance will be offered to the successful candidate.
