About the Trust

Tuaropaki Trust was born from the unity of 279 Maori land Owners in 1952. The original owners of the Tuaropaki whenua believed that they could achieve more by working together. They amalgamated their family lands under an overarching vision to develop the land to provide opportunities for our whanau.

Today, Tuaropaki Trust is an Ahu Whenua Trust under the auspices of Te Ture Whenua Maori. There are more than 2,700 Owners, a mix of individuals, Whanau Trusts and Kaitiaki Trusts, all descended from the original Owners. The Trust is a kaitiaki for ancestral taonga and manages complex business interests in the food and energy sectors, with assets valued at around $1 billion.

The Role

As the Stakeholder Relations Manager you will be responsible for leading all internal and external stakeholder relationship engagement.

You will also be responsible for:

Leading all key stakeholder interactions including shareholders, investors, community, and Iwi.

Establishing a stakeholder management framework.

Identifying opportunities to drive strategic narratives.

Supporting Trustees and management to develop the mana of the Trust in cultural and commercial circles.

Facilitating all aspects of the Annual Report and Panui.

Managing events.

Actively promoting the Trust's values and interests.

Working as an active member of the Culture and Legacy Team, collaboratively identifying ways to continually improve achievement of the team's wider objectives.

Contributing to a positive and supportive work culture by promoting open communication, teamwork, and mutual respect.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating technical information.

Sharing technical expertise and best practices with others to enhance their skills and capabilities.

What you'll need to be successful

Relationship management experience and experience in a Maori context.

A high level of competency in te reo Maori and tikanga Maori.

Demonstrated expertise in achieving strategic outcomes from multi-channel/modal communication methods including social media, regular media, websites, publications, and hui.

Relevant tertiary qualification.

A track record of making quality decisions within your area of responsibility.

A proven ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, navigate issues and solve problems.

Prior experience in a stakeholder or investor relations type role or a robust understanding of strategic communications strategies, principles, and tools.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build and leverage relationships and partner with colleagues and others across the industry to achieve shared outcomes.
