We are seeking a motivated person to promote and manage the sporting requirements for Havelock North High School, encouraging participation and engagement in all sporting activities.
Full-time (30-35 hours per week, term time only).
Commencing on 5th August, 2024 Remuneration : Grade 4 of the Support Staff Work Matrix (step to be confirmed based on previous experience) Skills required : Strong organisational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to build relationships that encompass a wide range of skills/abilities.
Ability to work under time constraints with good time-management skills.
Willingness to actively promote student participation in sport.
Strong communication and administration skills.
Key tasks : Recruitment, training, mentoring and nurturing of coaches and Teachers in Charge of sporting codes.
Coaches may be staff, students, parents and/or outside coaches.
Liaise with coaches to collect and enter entries for all sporting events and coordinate training and use of facilities.
Manage Sport Budget including the purchasing of sports equipment and working with Uniform Shop Manager to order replacement sports uniform.
Coordinate distribution/storage and maintenance of sports equipment and uniforms not held by codes.
Working with the grounds staff to ensure the fields and courts are prepared in advance for summer and winter sports.
Work with Year 13 Sports Committee to organise lunchtime activities and other student-led initiatives.
Preparing and organising the award ceremonies and assemblies that recognize sporting achievement.
These include Summer and Winter Blues assemblies and the Sport and Cultural Dinner.
Promote sport at HNHS by preparing and distributing a regular 'Sporting Week' publication and maintaining the 'Sport at HNHS' booklet and 'Sport' section of the school website.
Promotion also involves participating in the Year 9 orientation day and Open Evenings.
Make nominations for the HBSS Sports Awards and complete the requirements to the NZSSSC Census.
Liaise with Executive Officer regarding the charging of sports fees.
Liaising with other schools with regard to sports exchanges including logistics involved with hosting e.g., referees, billeting.
Organisation of school teams to tournaments, including tournament week.
Applying to charities for funding/grants for travelling teams and equipment.
To liaise with admin staff regarding sports photos.
