About the role:
As a Sport Tutor at our Wellington campus, you will be walking into an energetic environment where value is placed on delivering outcomes rather than micro-managing work and tasks. You will be given autonomy to work in a way that gets the best results and will be expected to take responsibility and make things happen.
In this role, you will mentor a group of motivated students completing their Level 5 Diploma in Sport, Recreation and Exercise.
Some of your key responsibilities will be to:
Deliver NZQA learning objectives in a way that brings our curriculum alive for the student.
Teach and mentor students, provide pastoral care, and track/monitor student success.
Stay abreast of latest industry/teaching trends and recommendations.
Meet NZIS targets for student achievement and work placement.
Engage with relevant sport, exercise, and recreation industry stakeholders.
About you:
To be a Sport Tutor, you must have a tertiary qualification (minimum of Level 5) in Sport Management, Exercise Science, or other related fields, and have relevant industry experience in sport, exercise, or recreation fields.
You must have the ability to operate independently or as part of a team and be able to mentor students and run sporting programs and academies. You will describe yourself as an enthusiastic and motivated self-starter who has a passion for the sports, fitness, and recreation industries and will have networks within the sport, exercise, and/or recreation communities. You will be highly organised with strong admin skills to manage your duties both inside and outside the classroom.
Ideally, you will have teacher training or relevant student engagement experience; however, this is NOT essential, and NZIS can provide this for the suitable candidate. An ability to connect with tertiary students through creative, exciting, and motivational delivery methods is essential.
In addition, you must also have experience and expertise in delivery of some or all of the following subject areas:
