Join a supportive & innovative team that is committed to looking after its staff.We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Speech-Language Therapist looking to take the next step in their career as Practice Lead of the Speech-language Therapy Team.As SLT Practice Lead, you will work within the Senior Services Management Team to ensure the organisation is supported to meet people's communication rights. Reporting to the Clinical Director, you will work directly alongside managers of Learning and Development, Quality and Risk, Service Managers, Clinical Practice Leads, and the Chief Operating Officer. In this role you will be:Provide leadership for the speech-language therapy team.Lead communication and dysphagia services for adults with learning disabilities.Triaging communication and dysphagia referrals, allocating caseload.Supervising and mentoring SLTs.Ensuring the team operates efficiently and to a high standard of evidence-based practice.Manage a clinical caseload.Identifying opportunities and scope.Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic objectives across the organisation.Consult on the development of organisational procedures and the delivery of service improvement projects.Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders - such as TalkLink, Te Whatu Ora, NZSTA, and Speech-language Therapy University programmes.Advocate for people's communication rights within the organisation and the wider disability sector.The suitable candidate will have:Recognised qualification in speech-language therapy, and current membership of the New Zealand Speech-language Therapy Association.Clinical experience working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities, with a minimum of five years' experience.Strong leadership skills. Previous experience managing a team is preferred.Effective communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.Competence in comprehensive communication assessments and appropriate interventions, including expertise in various communication tools and technologies, including AAC.Person-centred - committed to the provision of individualised services and support.Commitment and passion - highly motivated and energetic - takes a high level of personal responsibility, relishes a challenge, and remains enthusiastic despite setbacks.Innovation - embraces change and contributes new ideas.Excellence - constantly strives to be the best.
