The SCN focus will be on supporting and enhancing patient outcomes by improving patients' medical and surgical management in ways that boost and conserve the patients' own blood.A large component of the SCN role is to provide ongoing education and support to staff; ensuring they are responsible in their use of blood products, and to patients; helping them to optimise their health and manage individual needs. This role particularly deals with pre-operative patients who are found to be anaemic and managing their treatment to optimise their red blood cell counts prior to surgery.Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o WaitangiRegistration with Nursing Council of New Zealand; inclusive of scope of practiceA current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New ZealandClinical experience with administration of blood and blood productsExpected to have met or be working toward expert level of practice on the Professional Development and Recognition ProgrammeGood computer skills, particularly with ExcelCompleted a postgraduate qualificationInvolved in research, teaching/presenting to a range of clinicians, and innovation that has changed clinical practiceAbility to conduct audits, write reports and update policies/proceduresExperience in or ability to learn how to maintain the hospital intranet websiteHow to ApplyPlease click 'Apply online' or apply via our Waikato Careers Website.
