Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity The Patient Blood Management (PBM) service at Waikato Hospital is looking for an experienced, highly motivated senior nurse to fill this Speciality Clinical Nurse (SCN) role.
The SCN focus will be on supporting and enhancing patient outcomes by improving patients' medical and surgical management in ways that boost and conserve the patients' own blood.A large component of the SCN role is provide ongoing education and support to staff; ensuring they are responsible in their use of blood products, and to patients; helping them to optimise their health and manage individual needs.
This role particularly deals with pre-operative patients who are found to be anaemic and managing their treatment to optimise their red blood cells counts prior to surgery to view the position description.

Mo tatou Ratonga | About our ServiceWaikato Hospital's PBM team is comprised of a small multidisciplinary group of enthusiastic specialists committed to use of evidence-based research and practice to improve patient outcomes.
The team has a Clinical Lead, Anaesthetists, a Clinical Nurse Coordinator and Speciality Clinical Nurses.
Recently, the addition of a Clinical Nurse Specialist for Intravenous Immunoglobulin therapy has been employed as part of a pilot project.
Mou | About you Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti or WaitangiRegistration with Nursing Council of New Zealand; inclusive of scope of practiceA current practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New ZealandClinical experience with administration of blood and blood productsExpected to have met or be working toward expert level of practice on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme, but may achieve a higher level of practiceGood computer skills, particularly with ExcelCompleted a postgraduate qualificationInvolved in research, teaching/presenting to a range of clinicians, and innovation that has changed clinical practiceAbility to conduct audits, write reports and update policies/proceduresExperience in or ability to learn how to maintain the hospital intranet website Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
