The remuneration range for this role is $114,025 - $121,444 and is covered by the collective agreement (NZNO MECA). Position Description: Specialty Clinical Nurse, Ophthalmology, Outpatients Fixed Term 18 months.
The ophthalmology department is currently expanding its services, which is an exciting time for all of us. We are moving to a new sensory hub building and are very interested in an experienced ophthalmology clinical nurse specialist to join our team.
Our Ophthalmology team consists of experienced and compassionate professionals who are keen to work with you in a collaborative, educative, and patient/whanau-focused approach.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is a solution-focused creative thinker to be part of an exciting development for our hospital and region.
The Specialty Clinical Nurse plays a pivotal role in ensuring patients and whanau are supported through their health care journey.
We are seeking candidates who are capable of working at the top of their scope and strive for exceptional quality of care within the planned care environment as per the organisation's policies, procedures, and greater organisation's WAKA values.
Responsibilities include:
Case management of patients with specialist needs.
Conduct nurse-led clinics.
Be a clinical leader in ophthalmology and work at the top of the scope.
Provide direct patient care, including assessments, treatments, interventional procedures, and education.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Actively engage in quality improvement initiatives and developing practice improvement.
Maintain professional development and competence.
Provide educational support and mentorship, including in-service education.
Maintain a safe and clean environment.

Whilst the unit is currently open Monday to Friday and some weekends, the role is advertised as rostered and rotating shifts.
Gisborne Hospital, Te Whatu Ora, Tairawhiti, and the Outpatient department are committed to CCDM/VRM; therefore, shifts in other areas of the hospital are required.

Mou - About you
We are keen to hear from you if you have:
A current NZ Registration to practise as a Registered Nurse.
A Post-Graduate Certificate in Nursing.
Experience of leadership and a 'can do' attitude.
Minimum 3 years' experience in an acute or primary health setting.
Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
