Kimi Ora School is a specialist school for young persons aged 5-21 years. As part of our school, we run the Specialist Teacher Outreach Service.
This service currently has 16 teachers who visit and support students who have ORs funding in mainstream schools in the greater Wellington region.
Due to an increase in demand from schools for this service, Kimi Ora School has a position for a specialist outreach teacher to join their team on a fixed-term basis.
This position will be starting at 0.6 FTTE but with the possibility of increasing in the future.
Minimum Requirements: Registered Teacher with a current Practicing Certificate from NZ Teachers Council
Full New Zealand driver's license.
Desired Attributes: Knowledgeable and comfortable working across diverse cultures.
Experience with the disability sector/school environment is an advantage.
Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build and sustain high-trust relationships with all stakeholders.
Solutions-focused approach.
If you are a great team player committed to working collaboratively with schools, teachers, and students, then we would love to have you working alongside us to provide a vibrant learning environment for special needs students.
Experience in working with special needs and nonverbal children is desirable; however, even more importantly, we are looking for an enthusiastic innovative teacher with a "can do" attitude.
There is travel involved, and a mileage allowance is paid. The terms and conditions, including base salary, for this position are set by the Primary Teachers Collective Agreement.
If you require further information, please contact Lisa Neilson on (027) 427 3969.
