Specialist – Te Reo Kaiako

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Matauranga MaoriTe reo MaoriBNMS are offering a unique kaiako role to a person who is passionate about developing te reo Maori and Tikanga across the school. You will promote the understanding and celebration of te reo me ona tikanga Maori, as well as embody Matauranga Maori in your own teaching practice.Key responsibilities:Develop and implement creative lesson plans tailored to diverse learning styles.Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.Assess and track student progress and adapt instruction as needed.Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school activities.Develop strong and educationally powerful relationships with tamariki, whanau, hapu/iwi, and the school community.Take a lead role in Kapa Haka.A deep understanding and active, living commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi with the implementation of Matauranga Maori incorporated into our school curriculum, pedagogy and culture is crucial.Our te reo teacher will demonstrate expertise in developing effective language learning/teaching pedagogy, will be responsible for developing a schoolwide programme that involves working alongside all classroom teachers and students, and will lead professional learning for staff.Applicants must have NZ teacher registration.
