Specialist Palliative Care Physician

Health New Zealand Lakes is seeking a Senior Medical officer with a passion for improving the quality of life for their patients through Palliative Medicine.
Rotorua Hospital is a District General Hospital in one of the most spectacular regions of New Zealand – native bush, beautiful lakes and rivers, unique geothermal landscapes and some of the best mountain biking and walking/running trails in NZ.
Rotorua is also the perfect place to explore all that the North Island has to offer - it is only an hour from the spectacular east coast beaches, and an hour from stunning Lake Taupo with Mount Ruapehu offering skiing, tramping, fishing and water sports.
The ideal candidate for this role will have an interest in further developing specialist services to meet the needs of a rapidly growing and culturally diverse population.
The role requires you to work across a range of acute inpatient services and ambulatory services including clinics, hospice and patient's homes.
Therefore, it is essential to have capability in delivering specialist services:
to people and whanau who are experiencing a life limiting condition.
Experience in the acute hospital setting.
A focus on equitable services and health outcomes.
Actively participate in the education and training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing staff.
To be suitable for this position applicants must:
Hold or be eligible for Specialist (Vocational) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
