We have an exciting opportunity for a clinical pharmacist with extensive knowledge and experience in Internal Medicine as well as strong leadership capabilities to join our progressive Clinical Pharmacy Service at Counties Manukau!
The opportunity:
General Medicine at Middlemore Hospital is dynamic, clinically diverse and stimulating to say the least. Our clinical pharmacists in General Medicine operate within a team-based model of care and work closely with physicians to optimise patients' drug therapy and prevent medication-related harm from admission to discharge. The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist in General Medicine is viewed as a "generalist specialist" who is highly trained in different areas of internal medicine and able to optimise all aspects of a patient's pharmacotherapy regimen, especially for those who are co-morbid and clinically complex. As a senior member of the team, the Specialist pharmacist also plays an important role in education and training of junior staff as well as supporting the Team Leader in daily operations and continued service development and quality improvement.
We are looking for a motivated clinical pharmacist with the relevant experience and leadership qualities that fulfil the expectations of Specialist. Alternatively, this is a rare opportunity for a clinical pharmacist with some experience in General Medicine to step up into a senior role as Pre-specialist.
We are looking for a pharmacist who is/has:
For specialist appointment, at least 5 years of hospital experience overall, and at least 2-3 years of experience in General Medicine and/or other medical subspecialties
For pre-specialist appointment, at least 3 years of hospital experience overall, and at least 1 year of experience in General Medicine and/or other medical subspecialties
Relevant postgraduate qualifications– at minimum, working towards postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent; Pharmacist Prescriber
Patient-focused, enthusiastic and able to lead self, people and teams
Effective communicator with sound problem-solving skills
Supportive team player and able to teach and train other pharmacy staff and students
Demonstrates excellent clinical leadership capability with a keen interest and experience in quality improvement and service development
