The opportunities
Northland Region - Te Tai Tokerau (The unique winterless north!)
Northland comprises of Whangarei, Kaitaia, Bay of Islands and Dargaville Hospitals. We have a great opportunity for a role which is split between Whangarei and Kaitaia. Whangarei has 8 operating theatres and a procedure room co-located in the operating theatre suite, as well as a 2-room endoscopy suite. It provides the majority of the surgical services for Northland, including a wide range of surgical sub-specialties and all emergency surgery for the region.Kaitaia base is our northernmost general hospital, which has 28-beds and has a general; paediatric and maternity ward. We are looking to expand surgical services to enable equity of access for our rural population, so come and be part of our supportive team in the beautiful winterless North!
Auckland Metro Region (combining 3 largest hospital facilities in New Zealand)
Waitemata – Auckland Northshore
We operate over multiple sites at the North Shore campus and at Waitakere Hospital. A wide range of clinical sub specialities are provided (excluding Cardiothoracic, Vascular, Neurosurgery) and additionally an Acute Pain Service, an Anaesthetic Preadmission Service and secondary Obstetric Units in both locations. There are presently 6 Fellows, 13 registrars and 5 SHOs in ANZCA accredited training positions.

Te Toka Tumai – Auckland Central
Te Toka Tumai has three major facilities Auckland City Hospital, Starship Children's Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre. Auckland City Hospital is New Zealand's largest public hospital as well as the largest clinical research facility, playing a key role in advancing national and international research.
Women's Health Anaesthesia - Auckland CentralPart of Te Toka Tumai Auckland, National Women's Health (NWH) is providing care for around 6500 births annually. Labour epidurals feature in over 60% of births, and the caesarean section rate is around 40%. The unit has an established reputation in women's health as a regional and national referral centre for maternal fetal medicine, as well as home to the largest gynaecological oncological cancer centre in New Zealand, providing a regional service to around 2.3 million people.

Starship Children's Health-Auckland CentralIf you are specialised in Paediatrics, then Starship Children's Health could be the perfect place for you. Starship Children's Health is the leading provider of paediatric health care in New Zealand and the South Pacific, delivering child-centred, whanau (family) focused, whanau led care in hospital and the community. Starship provides a wide range of complex medical, surgical and cardiac health services. It aims to lead the nation in paediatric training and research.

Our organisation spans South Auckland, with a large Maaori and Pasifika population. We are a large teaching hospital with 14 operating theatres + procedures rooms at Middlemore Hospital and a further 10 theatres at the Manukau Surgical Centre. We host the national burns unit, the north island spinal service and support out of theatre anaesthetic services across both sites. We also have a strong acute, complex and chronic pain service.
