National Women's Health (NWH) is part of Te Toka Tumai Auckland, providing care for around 6500 births annually. Labour epidurals feature in over 60% of births, and the caesarean section rate is around 40%. The unit has an established reputation in women's health as a regional and national referral centre for maternal fetal medicine. NWH is also the largest gynaecological oncological cancer centre in New Zealand, providing a regional service to around 2.3 million people.
We are looking for qualified Specialist Anaesthetists to join us, working alongside a friendly and collaborative team of anaesthetic specialists, fellow and registrars. Both permanent and fixed term positions are available. Whilst the positions are full-time, we welcome applications for less than full time commitment, start date planned for early 2025. This role is based in Auckland City Hospital and Greenlane Clinical Centre.
Aside from elective and emergency work across the Women's Health Department of Anaesthesia, you will also take part in acute pain rounds, high risk clinics as well as provision of on-call services. There will be plenty of opportunities to be involved in quality improvement, teaching and research.

Maintain high standards of practice and patient care, including appropriate pre-operative and post-operative management
To be responsible for ensuring the implementation of clear policies for communication and responsibility for patient care with junior staff
Maintenance of accurate records
Participation in teaching at both specialist training courses and ad-hoc education of Resident Medical Officers, medical students, technicians, nurses, midwives and any other staff as required
Keeps up to date with current trends and developments in anaesthesia and in the utilisation of technology
Regular review of clinical performance as part of maintenance of professional standards
Will be encouraged to carry out or assist with appropriate research to improve knowledge or standards of patient care
