The Opportunity Our GIS team at the Otago Regional Council is looking for two Spatial / GIS Analysts to join the team on a fixed term (24 months), full-time basis (37.5 hrs per week) in our busy Dunedin or Alexandra office.
The purpose of this role is to gather, manage, and analyse data to assist various ORC teams to meet their operational and statutory requirements and to support implementation of strategic plans, priorities, and projects.
In this role you will be expected to understand a wide variety of work programmes with diverse needs.
As a Spatial / GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for:
Delivering high quality, timely, accurate and evidence-based spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro software to support the activities of the various ORC teams and both internal and external stakeholdersCollating and analysing spatial data (GIS and remote sensing) to enable teams at ORCEnsuring field data collection tools are fit for purpose to support compliance activities and operation plans are undertaken by the various ORC teamsDeveloping, implementing, and promoting improvements to mapping design ensuring consistency for GIS outputs across the organisationIdentifying opportunities and providing solutions for continuous improvement in collection, storage, analysis and reporting of dataIf you are keen to provide data analysis and support a range of teams at the ORC, then this is the role for you!
About You Our ideal candidate will have:
A tertiary qualification (degree level) in geography, ecology, GIS, resource management or related disciplineA minimum of five years' experience in an analyst role, ideally with a focus on environmental outcomesA minimum of three years' experience using best practice spatial analysis, statistical analysis, and documentation techniquesExperience using geographic information systems (GIS) for the purposes of undertaking spatial planning to inform operational work programmes and assessing impactStrong knowledge of the ESRI suiteExperience with FME Form and Flow, or other ETL softwareAn interest in imagery analysis and remote sensingWhat we offer We recognise and celebrate diversity within Team ORC and are committed to providing a work environment that supports inclusion and equal opportunities.
