Job Description About the role: Based in Southland, the Southern Forest Management Contractor role is responsible for wide range of duties, which include: Contractor Management: co-ordinating, supervising and monitoring the operations of contractors working in the forests. Land Use: Manage silviculture, harvesting, health & safety and security requirements. Relationship Management: assist with the owners of the forests, neighbouring landowners and other key stakeholders Data collection, planning and reporting: collecting forest measurement and operation data for analysis, along with the ability to plan and report on work programmes and data, as requested by Wenita. Emergency Services: first point of contact for emergency services in the event of a fire or other emergency on the land. Compliance: Ensuring compliance with forestry industry regulations, including health and safety and environmental. Desired Skills and Experience About you: We are looking for someone who enjoys working in the forestry industry, values working with great people and forms productive working relationships. They will have a good understanding of harvesting and silviculture operations and will be a self-starter with good communication skills. In addition to this they will have the ability to manage work and situations independently, while seeking guidance when needed from Wenita. H&S and environmental compliance are cornerstones of the forestry industry, so a sound understanding of these requirements is critical. Requirements To be successful you will ideally already have: At least 5+ years' experience in a similar role in the forestry industry A valid driver's licence, A current first aid certificate, Basic chainsaw knowledge and operation (Competenz units 6916 and 6917); and UAV operating experience Wenita is offering a competitive package for the right person to join our team.
