Songwriting Lecturers/Kaiako x 3 Auckland, New Zealand SONGWRITING VACANCIES AT SAEThe Songwriting programmes at SAE Auckland are expanding! In 2025, we will be delivering new Level 6 Songwriting courses, as well as supporting students to write songs in Te Reo Maori and/or a Pacific Language. As a result, we need more staff to teach into our Diploma in Songwriting and Musicianship and Bachelor of Songwriting.There are three part-time, permanent positions available:0.2FTE (8 hours per week) Songwriting Lecturer/Kaiako and Pacific Language stream Coordinator0.2FTE (8 hours per week) Songwriting Lecturer/Kaiako and Te Reo Maori Language stream CoordinatorReporting to the Academic Dean and working closely with the Head of Songwriting, the Songwriting Lecturer/Kaiako is responsible for the development, delivery, assessment and moderation of courses within the Diploma in Songwriting and Musicianship and Bachelor of Songwriting programmes. Relevant administrative work and ongoing pastoral care of students are also essential facets of the role. As SAE courses are collaborative across Music, Audio and Screen Production, the role includes facilitation of multidisciplinary creative projects.The Songwriting Lecturer/Kaiako and Te Reo Maori Language Coordinator also specifically focuses on supporting students to write songs in te reo Maori.The Songwriting Lecturer/Kaiako and Pacific Language Coordinator also specifically focuses on supporting students to write songs in a Pacific Language.The Lecturers/Kaiako we seek will ideally have the following:Be a dynamic tertiary teacher, with impressive teaching experience ideally within the New Zealand tertiary environmentBe able to contribute to the latest developments and perspectives on creative media education and ideally have some experience of project-based learningHave an understanding of how Te Tiriti o Waitangi impacts on tertiary teaching and learningHave an understanding of research by creative practice and be research activeHold a relevant tertiary qualification in Music or associated discipline, ideally at Masters level or willingness to undertake Masters studyHave industry experience within the music and audio industry and enjoy strong networks and a positive reputation within the industryAdditionally, the Te Reo Maori Coordinator should hold the expertise to facilitate classes that focus on Maori Language and culture.
