Te aheinga - The opportunity
New Plymouth District Council is seeking a highly skilled team player to join our Legal Services team as a Solicitor. As a solicitor in our close-knit team, you will be solutions-focused and work across the organisation supporting Council officers and managers in a variety of contexts and issues. You will provide robust and practical legal advice and assist the organisation to ensure that legislative requirements and Council bylaws, policies, and procedures are fulfilled.
Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
Providing legal advice and support to Council officers and managers.
Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Council policies.
Nga tino pukenga me nga wheako - Essential skills and experience:
Hold, or able to obtain, a current New Zealand practising certificate.
Minimum four years PQE (private practice or in-house).
Experience in contracts, Local Government, public, commercial and/or resource management law is highly desirable.
Ability to communicate complex technical information to a broad range of internal stakeholders.
Ability to work to and meet deadlines in a highly dynamic working environment.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a close-knit team.
