Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Farm Technician and Installer for the next year 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at solar farm sites. This role requires hands-on technical skills, an understanding of electrical systems, and a strong commitment to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation of Solar PV Systems: Install solar panels, inverters, wiring, and other system components as per technical specifications and local regulations.
Electrical Work: Perform electrical work related to solar PV systems, including wiring, grounding, and ensuring systems are in compliance with electrical codes and standards.
Maintenance and Repair: Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair solar power systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
System Monitoring: Monitor the performance of installed solar systems and identify potential issues or inefficiencies.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures during installation, maintenance, and repair activities to ensure a safe working environment.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance schedules, repairs, and inspections.
Collaboration: Work closely with the project management team, engineers, and other technicians to ensure smooth operations and project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
Technical Skills: Proven experience in solar PV installation, ideally on large-scale solar farms.
Strong understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and wiring.
Knowledge of solar energy technologies and industry best practices.
Certifications: Electrical qualifications or certification in solar installation (NZ Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) is preferred).
Working at Heights certification is an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in solar installation or electrical work.
Physical Ability: Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Comfortable with working at heights and lifting heavy equipment.
Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot solar system performance issues.
Communication Skills: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work well within a team and with clients.
Other Requirements:
Full NZ Driver's License
Willingness to travel to various solar farm sites across New Zealand.
Legal right to work in New Zealand.
