Software Engineering Manager at Transpower New Zealand Limited, Wellington Application Services works under the guidance of our Digital Strategy team to deliver products in accordance with enterprise standards. The critically important IT systems built and operated by our Applications Services team are a key part of running Aotearoa New Zealand's national grid and electricity market in real time.
As Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a Software Engineering team with accountability for the end-to-end technical delivery of a subset of the application development, integration and life cycle refresh projects in the Application Portfolio.
You will contribute to the Application Services Strategy, with a focus on maintaining and building the performance and capability of the Software Engineering practice through a combined consideration of people skills and behaviours, processes and tools, plus technology plans to deliver the outcomes of the business.
This role is also accountable (with input from peer Software Engineering Managers) for ensuring that there is an agreed future state architecture that our applications will evolve towards, via a portfolio of projects.
What will you bring?
Demonstrated ability leading technical teams to deliver complex applications, ideally in a Software Engineering/Development Manager or similar role
Commercial acumen, including experience negotiating contracts and managing outsourced vendors
Demonstrated financial acumen through budgeting and managing cost centre allocations and planning
Evidence providing thought leadership and contributions to business projects and technology initiatives
