Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services (Community Services & Development) 2 positions available.
Permanent full time – 40 hours per week.
Permanent part time - 30 hours per week Unique opportunity to join a team of social workers based in schools throughout Southland.
If you have a variety of social work experience, skills and knowledge and you are passionate about working within a school environment to achieve great outcomes, then this could be the role for you.
The role assesses issues and develops plans that respond to those concerns.
Engagement is voluntary and the voice of the child is paramount with enhancing safety being the ultimate consideration.
It's about helping children shine brighter and be heard in all matters affecting them.
A key focus for this position is on developing goals and helping clients (tamariki and whanau) to achieve them.
Being proactive and working to ensure child safety and learning and behavioural development so that risk factors are minimised and families can lead healthier lifestyles where the risk of statutory care and protection involvement is minimised or removed.
Responsibilities Work with tamariki and whanau using your wide range of social work skills and strategies.
Collaborate with whanau to assess the needs of their tamariki.
Complete child and parenting case assessments & case work.
Create and monitor plans using appropriate interventions and the resources available to assist the client family/whanau.
Contribute to the development of group programmes and deliver them to children and families/whanau to support one-to-one work.
Work within the school setting supporting individuals/groups of students as well as working alongside staff to support as needs arise across the school community.
Work with staff to prioritise cases and individual needs.
Support whanau to use their strengths, support networks, and resources independently to develop greater resilience and maintain a positive and safe environment for their tamariki.
To join our team, you will Be a registered social worker or have registration under the conditions of Section 13 of the Social Workers Registration Act 2003.
Have experience working with vulnerable children and families.
Be confident working in culturally diverse environments, especially with Maori and Pasifika.
Be a self-starter who can work independently.
Be competent and able to implement a wide range of social work practices.
Be a confident networker and capable of building strong community connections.
Currently hold a full clean NZ driver's license.
