This role is predominantly working within Inpatients at Te Nikau Hospital, while supporting Community services across the West Coast within a dynamic & cohesive Social Work team ensuring the transition from home to hospital and back home again is well supported.

As a Social Worker, you will be responsible for providing appropriate and effective psychosocial assessment, intervention, monitoring and evaluation to clients.
Whilst no day is the same, typically you will mostly be in the General Ward (Medical/Surgical/Rehab) alongside other health professionals with clients of all ages, supporting them and their whanau through their health journey.
Advocating, providing emotional care and practical solutions to clients.
It is essential that you have:
NZ registration and current Annual Practising Certificate (APC)Eligibility/work visa to work in NZMinimum 3 years' experienceExcellent communication – listening, verbal and writtenProven ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretionProven ability to work autonomously as well as within a teamCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthBe able to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and meet deadlinesCommitment to ongoing self-development and Allied Health service developmentExperience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settingsExperience working within the New Zealand Health systemExperience working in rural communityExperience working in an Interdisciplinary teamKnowledge of all relevant legislation and standardsWorking for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellnesses.'
