About the Role The Older Persons Mental Health Community Team has a full-time opportunity for an experienced Social Worker, who has a passion for working in mental health and enthusiasm to make a difference in the lives of older persons. This role involves working directly with clients/tangata whai ora, whanau, NGO service providers, Primary Health sector, and Aged Residential Care facilities with the support of our wider multi-disciplinary team.
The role also involves working alongside the team at the referral centre as required, managing intake and acute situations.

About the Team/Service/Location The Community Older Person's Mental Health (OPMH) team is an inter-disciplinary team that provides a comprehensive range of services including inpatient, outpatient, and community-based services, as well as psychiatric consultation/liaison service with medical and surgical teams at Christchurch hospitals.
The OPMH Community team is currently based at The Princess Margaret Hospital.
About You The successful candidate will have experience working in mental health and a passion to work alongside and make a difference in the lives of older persons. You will be a confident practitioner with exceptional assessment skills, the ability to develop individual management plans, and evaluate client/tangata whai ora-centred goals. Personal attributes would include enthusiasm, self-motivation, excellent interpersonal skills, and fastidious attention to documentation.Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Skills and Experience A New Zealand registered Social Worker with a current practicing certificate.Effective interpersonal skills and confidence and ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.Previous clinical experience working in a medical and/or surgical setting is preferred.Working for Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellnesses.'
