Mo Tenei Turanga Mahi - About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to social work education. The role is underpinned by principles of social justice, bicultural practice, and empowering others to promote personal and social change. An important focus of this role will be providing teaching and support to the other Academic Staff within the Bachelor of Social Work and other Social Work-related programmes.
You will work with a team of experienced social work educators who are committed to changing lives through opportunities brought about by education. This role would suit a registered social worker who is passionate about practice and has an excellent reputation as a professional. This role may also appeal to an experienced educator or someone new to social work education who is seeking a change in the direction of their career.
Prior teaching experience is essential, as is a learner-focused approach to supporting students to achieve desired aspirations and outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and applying knowledge of te ao Maori to social work practice, and be confident in applying kaupapa Maori principles and matauranga Maori to learning and development in the programme.
Nga Pukenga Me Nga Wheako - Skills and Experience
Minimum qualification - a Masters level qualification; or a Social Work Bachelor degree and has demonstrable, relevant and suitable professional experience, in consideration of Section 100 and 101 of the Social Workers Registration Act
A completed qualification in adult teaching e.g., NZCATT (essential for a senior academic staff member)
Current industry/discipline knowledge
Registered Social Work status with an Annual Practicing Certificate
A minimum five years' experience working in the Social Work sector
Established networks with Maori social services providers
Commitment to research is required
Vision, innovation, and a commitment to facilitating own and others' learning
Capable of supporting students to achieve their learning outcomes.
Works collaboratively and co-operatively, contributes to teams.
Recognises diversity positively (cultural, socioeconomic, age, ability)
