Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act Enforcement Officer 1.0 FTE at Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Tairawhiti, Gisborne Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity Join our dynamic team as a regulatory enforcement officer and play an important role in safeguarding public health. In this position, you will engage in a variety of activities, including premises visits, complaints investigations, and more, all aimed at upholding the provisions of the Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990.
If you're naturally inquisitive and love investigation, you're a great fit for this job. We need individuals who can identify and effectively manage risks associated with smokefree initiatives. Strong communication skills are a must, as you'll be working closely with other public health professionals. Paying close attention to details and following procedures accurately are essential skills we're looking for.

Te Whatu Ora Tairawhiti Public Health Unit is an important interface between the health sector and our communities in need. We strive to provide information, influence, intervention and prevention strategies that will improve the health and wellbeing of our population and to demonstrate an understanding of the social and economic determinants of health and the impact on Maori Health status.
Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:
A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Law, Health, Public Administration, Compliance) Experience working within a public health unit, or a regulated environment Demonstrated experience in applying relevant legislation, codes, standards, and guidelines Ability to communicate with diverse people/cultures, commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to providing equitable outcomes to people in the community.
