Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity Downer holds a long-term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Justice.
This involves the proactive management and delivery to the national portfolio of facilities including 16 prisons, 98 courts and 141 community correctional sites.
This contract underpins the provision of availability of facilities to support core Government services.
We now have an opportunity for a Team Leader to join our team in Christchurch based at the Christchurch Men's Prison.
This position is full time, with a guaranteed min 40 hours per week and will be responsible for asset maintenance, team leadership and delivering excellent customer service to our client.
Prisons are sometimes challenging work environments, so you must be confident and able to conduct yourself professionally at all times.
You will also understand the 24/7 nature of a prison site and be prepared to sometimes manage jobs and situations after hours.
Your day-to-day duties will include: Leadership of the team, both through guidance and leading by example to complete tasks.
A 'hands-on' approach, and you will be required to assist in the site specific deliverables Promoting strong collaborative customer relationships with positive interactions and value adding activities Support with solid technical solutions in the trades areas (electrical, air conditioning, mechanical, building and facilities assets spaces) Nga Pukenga Motuhake | Important Skills We are looking for candidates with the following skills & experience: Relevant trades background and qualifications (i.e.. electrical, building, plumbing HVAC) Minimum five years' experience in a trade environments.
Demonstrated experience in operational leadership of a multi trade service delivery team.
Experience driving operational activities to ensure quality workmanship is achieved, jobs are completed to schedule and on time and rework is minimised.
