Make an impact at Serco An exciting opportunity has become available for a Shop Assistant to work at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre. In this role, you will support the Canteen Coordinator to ensure smooth and efficient operations in the canteen. This is a casual position. We require full flexibility for this role and the ability to work weekends. As a Shop Assistant you'll make a positive impact by: Utilising and understanding localised till sales point systems Ensuring customer's points are updated prior to recording sales and updating customer's records to reflect accurate spend allowance Packing and recording of stock to deliver to customers in other secure locations Maintaining stock levels, replenishing, and cleaning sales areas as well as assisting in monthly stock takes Ensuring compliance with Serco and DIBP/FDSP Codes of Conduct, policies and procedures. Ensuring the shop is open for business at the required times and that excellent service is provided to all customers Being efficient and organised with goods, as well as receiving and handling invoices Serco is a place for you You are a dedicated and reliable individual with excellent customer service skills and a strong attention to detail. Your ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, coupled with your friendly and approachable demeanour, makes you an ideal candidate for this role. You are proactive, adaptable, and committed to maintaining high standards in all tasks, ensuring a positive experience for customers and colleagues alike. To be successful in this role you'll have: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly in Excel and Word Proven experience in delivering high-quality customer service with a friendly and approachable demeanour Strong ability to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive work environment Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various tasks and maintain a clean and orderly canteen Excellent communication and numerical skills Prior experience working in a canteen, cafeteria, or similar food service environment is highly desirable You do not need to match every listed expectation to apply for this position.
