Bunker Shipz Limited is the operator of the Auckland based bunker tanker Awanuia, operating between the port of Auckland and the Marsden Point Oil Refinery.
Due to roster changes we have a vacancy for a Chief Engineer (full time) and are seeking applications from individuals who have current senior tanker engineering experience, qualifications and skills necessary for this challenging role.
As the Chief Engineer on the Awanuia, you will lead the Engineering team onboard and have responsibility for ensuring the engineering operational requirements and maintenance of the Vessel are delivered, along with compliance to Classification Society rules and Charterers requirements.
This is a key hands-on role as part of a small team.
Our ideal candidate will be highly motivated and technically competent in the following areas: Technical Proficiency – Technically competent as a senior Marine Engineer holding a MEC1 with a Class 1 (Management level) Tanker Endorsement recognised in New Zealand.
Leadership – You will be able to demonstrate a track record of successful people leadership, motivation of teams, and senior level experience of vessel management.
Customer Service Focus – You will be able to demonstrate a track record of giving high priority to customer satisfaction and delivering results.
Planning and Organising – You will be able to demonstrate establishing courses of action to achieve objectives including planning and organising resources.
Team Work – You will be a practical hands-on part of the engineering team.
You will be able to demonstrate how you work collaboratively with others within and across departments on a vessel towards achieving a common objective.
Compliance – You will have a track record of proactive compliance with Maritime rules, Health and Safety legislation, Classification Societies, Auditing, and Environmental legislation.
To succeed in this role you will have a proven aptitude for people leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
