Our Client
Our client is in the business of manufacturing glass through to installation. Their success is driven by innovation, technology, and dedication to their customers and people.
The Opportunity
The Shift Supervisor role works together with the Operations Manager in achieving key business objectives. The role will run the production shift according to production schedules and is responsible for manning to the production needs of that shift across all manufacturing areas.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure the efficient running of shifts; Shift follows production plans and assign work accordingly to ensure the shift reaches maximum throughput.
Regularly monitor the productivity of each line and ensure the shift has enough supplies to keep production running.
Monitor wastage on a regular basis and take corrective actions where there is excess.
Ensure production lines are running the entire shift without downtime. Escalate maintenance issues to the engineering team as early as possible for quick resolution.
Ensure staff follow quality standards and investigate any issues on the line or quality concerns.
Work with the Production Manager in developing staff, ensuring they are aware of production targets and what they need to do to achieve them.
Develop a team culture to motivate staff where every team member is clear on their responsibilities and actively engaged.
What you'll bring to the role:
A tertiary qualification or Mechanical engineering qualification is desirable.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience is essential, with a track record of developing or coaching others.
Previous manufacturing experience, preferably within glass manufacturing.
Excellent numerical skills; testing will be part of your application process.
Excellent communication skills; the ability to think on your feet and work under pressure is critical for this role.
