Shift Fitter - Maintenance

Our client is a global leader in fibre and pulp-based packaging for fresh food and beverages, operating more than 10 plants worldwide. The Opportunity: An immediate start is available for a Maintenance Fitter at our client's Otahuhu plant. This is a 3-month temporary role with the strong potential for extension or permanent placement. You'll work in a rotating shift pattern—2 days, 2 nights on, followed by 4 days off—with hours from 06:00 to 18:00 or 18:00 to 06:00, Monday to Saturday, ensuring a minimum of 40 hours per week. The position offers a competitive rate of $40 per hour plus standby and call allowance. Key Responsibilities: Perform maintenance, repair, and fault diagnosis on plant and equipment. Maintain spare parts inventory and manage re-orders using the barcode system. Propose improvements to operations, practices, and procedures. Conduct both planned and unplanned maintenance on assets. Carry out preventive and scheduled maintenance on mechanical equipment. Coordinate with contractors on shared tasks. Utilize fault-finding techniques to repair machine breakdowns. Assist with job planning and scheduling activities. Accurately record job data and complete daily task sheets. Skills and Experience: Relevant trade certificate or extensive experience as a Fitter and Turner. Electrical/Mechanical Engineering qualification (desirable). Experience in pulp preparation (desirable). Competency in using lathe and milling machines. Basic skills in Arc, TIG, and Oxy welding (desirable).
