About the opportunity
Fonterra Whareroa Utilities are looking for a Shift Engineer Operator to join a highly engaged team. You'll be working in a large gas-fired co-generation plant, operating gas turbines, a steam turbine, and 40 bar boilers supplying electricity and steam to the site. An ammonia refrigeration plant, compressed air, and potable water treatment plant all supply site utilities.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Operating our boilers to meet KPI targets and consent requirements.
Ensuring our utilities operate to optimum safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Machine maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
Identifying areas for improvement within plant and process.
Ensuring the safe and effective operation of plant and equipment.
Understanding the function of Safety Critical Equipment (SCE's).
Participating in permit to work and isolation procedures.
Hours of work are a twelve-hour shift pattern of six on (three days, three nights) and six off.

About you
It goes without saying that you'll have solid experience in the operation of boilers and knowledge of other utilities, Enchem L4, including some knowledge of ammonia refrigeration and compressed air systems. Your strong fault-finding skills, analytical ability, and excellent communication skills will mean you will fit well within our team.
Other key attributes include:
Experience in operating boilers or similar heavy industry plant/equipment.
Enchem L4 or Enchem 3 and working towards L4 certification, 3rd class Marine or First Class steam.
Adaptable to change and eager to learn.
Strong communication skills.
A passion for new technology and alternative energy opportunities.
A mechanical, electrical or refrigeration trade qualification or background.
