SFO Forensic Accounting Analyst – AucklandThe Serious Fraud Office (SFO) is a highly specialised government department whose mission is to disrupt and deter serious complex fraud through prevention, investigation, and prosecution. We are a cohesive team with a strong sense of justice and a vibrant culture.We seek a Chartered Accountant to join our team based in Commercial Bay, Auckland CBD as a Forensic Accounting Analyst with our Evaluations team. This is a part-time permanent employee status role where you will work 22.5 hours each week. Your hours will be worked between 7.30am and 5.30pm, and could be over three, four, or five days – your choice.Our Evaluations team is the first point of contact for any allegation of financial crime reported to the SFO. Led by a Principal Forensic Accountant, and in collaboration with Evaluating Lawyers, you will be responsible for analysis of complex financial arrangements and situations and will use your investigation experience and technical knowledge to detect serious or complex fraud, including corruption. You will make recommendations and contribute to complaint and evaluation reports for the Director of the SFO.You will communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including complainants, victims, and other government agencies, and adjust your communication approach to the circumstances while delivering a clear and effective message. As a member of our wider Detection and Prevention team, you will contribute specialist knowledge of accounting systems and case learnings to enhance prevention activities.To be successful in this role:You are a Chartered Accountant with CAANZ full membership.Post qualification, you have worked across a diverse range of accounting disciplines and developed a comprehensive skill set.You have specialised as a Forensic Accountant, beyond exploring tax fraud, or in an equivalent role that requires using investigative techniques and technology for analysing and resolving complex financial assignments.You have an investigative mindset and curiosity.You have significant understanding of how business activity is documented, recorded, reported, managed, and controlled – and you know when things don't look right.You are articulate and can effectively explain and document business information and the results of your financial analysis, particularly to those who are not experts in this field.You are known for your thoroughness, dependability, and sound judgement, and retain these attributes when working within time constraints and on matters of significance.At the SFO we value a 'growth mindset' and explore this attribute during our recruitment process and in our development discussions.
