Session Facilitator – Te Aroha Playcentre

We're seeking a vibrant and motivated educator to join our well-resourced centre to support our tamariki, parents, and whanau in facilitating child-led play.
You will work alongside our Centre whanau to open the sessions and guide activities, facilitate learning for our members and tamariki while role modelling child-led play and positive guidance, increase the use of Te Reo Maori, encourage participation in the Playcentre Education programme to increase qualification levels at our centre, and demonstrate the benefits of participating to whanau.
Let your inner author shine writing learning stories highlighting tamariki achievements, developments, learning, and wonders while supporting whanau with their exploring their light bulb moments.
We are all about mentoring and supporting parents/whanau/members/tamariki as they explore and learn with their children during these very special years.

Location:Te Aroha Playcentre
Days & hours:Tuesdays and Fridays 9.00am – 12.00pm, during school term time only.
This is a fixed term position ending 27 June 2025.
We will begin interviewing suitable candidates as applications come in and could appoint to this position before the application period has closed.
The candidate must have the following:Hold a Playcentre Course 3 qualification or higher or an Early Childhood qualification of Level 4 or higherHold a current First Aid Certificate or be willing to achieve this.Please contact us if you have queries about your qualifications in relation to this role.
Desirable skills and experience will include:Knowledge and understanding of Te Whariki and commitment to Te Tiriti o WaitangiA passion for Playcentre and our philosophyStrong interpersonal and communication skills with tamariki and adultsPassion for empowering and engaging with all whanau to feel a sense of belonging in our sessions.Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
