Doppelmayr New Zealand Ltd is the Aotearoa subsidiary which represents the Doppelmayr Group for the development, distribution and assembly of passenger and material transport systems, including customer service.
With a presence in New Zealand almost 50 years, we support tourism and recreation facilities, public transport, and material handling systems from our Christchurch base.
About the role We are currently looking for an experienced Service Technician to join our Customer Support and Service team based from our Christchurch office and workshop.
The role will require regular travel to our customers' sites around New Zealand and you can expect to be away for extended periods of time, sometimes with short notice.
The scope of work will be across a wide range of service tasks, repairs and maintenance primarily relating to ropeways.
On occasions this role may also be called to work on Doppelmayr construction project sites supporting our Construction team.
Along with service and construction work the role also includes the organisation, repair and maintenance of company tools and equipment based from Christchurch.
This is a great opportunity to combine your skills and a passion for working in the outdoors in a role that will take you to some of New Zealand's best recreation and tourism areas.
About You You will be confident and competent working with and around mechanical equipment and machinery.
You will have a proven history of working with minimal supervision and be dedicated to completing work with the highest level of safety, efficiency and quality.
Applicants with a background in ropeway operation and maintenance or relevant trade qualifications, skills and experience will be highly considered.
The skills we are looking for are: Absolute focus on safety and health in the workplace3+ years' experience with ropeway maintenance or a relevant trade backgroundGood communication and interpersonal skillsInspection, servicing and maintenance skills and experienceAn ability to plan, prioritise and schedule workComputer literate - A meticulous approach to documenting workComfortable working at heights in fall arrest harnessYou will be interacting with our customers regularly so a positive manner and an ability to explain things in non-technical language is essential.
