About the role: Join our brand-new CDC data centre campus expansion in Hobsonville, launching early 2025. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a fresh, dynamic team of service technicians. Starting together in the first quarter of the year, you'll have the chance to learn and grow alongside our talented and experienced New Zealand Operations team.
As a Service Technician, you'll support the maintenance, repair, and incident response of critical Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire systems. You'll be the first to respond to alerts, assess severity, prioritise actions, and escalate to third-party contractors when needed.
Shift team members will proactively inspect critical infrastructure, monitor daily operations, and identify risks to ensure systems operate as designed. You'll also oversee contractors performing critical work, ensuring strict compliance with pre-defined MOPs and making quick, informed decisions on prioritisation and escalation.
Other responsibilities include: Promptly responding to service requests and emergency faults.Conducting initial fault finding, determining causes, and implementing remedies.Communicating repair timelines with internal teams for coordinated client communications.Performing critical switching to prevent disruptions in case of equipment failure.Ensuring timely completion of planned maintenance, daily site reviews, and adherence to safety policies.About you: We are looking for a passionate person who has a trade or tertiary qualification in relevant fields (Electrical, Refrigeration, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Fire, Telecommunications, Controls).
Successful Service Technicians at CDC often come from the above trades or industries. Desired but not essential prerequisite experience:
2+ years of experience in trade or critical facilities.Prior experience in critical infrastructure environments with adherence to strict procedures.Experience operating Building Management Systems (BMS) or Energy Management Systems (EMS).Exposure to data centre equipment, including CRAC units, UPS, generators, and fire systems.Demonstrated skills in managing critical infrastructure, utilising electronic monitoring systems, fault-finding, and contributing to process improvements.Benefits, Training and Offerings: Our training program provides tailored content through our CDC Academy, specifically designed for individuals starting out in this role.
