Community Development (Community Services & Development) The Heretaunga Women's Centre's purpose is to enhance and advocate for women's wellbeing and empowerment. About the role - position summary: We seek a dynamic and experienced Service Development Lead to join our team part-time. This role is integral in supporting women's access to services at the Heretaunga Women's Centre by assessing their needs, coordinating activities, courses, and workshops for the programme, and managing the SuperSkills Heretaunga life skills mentoring programme. This position recruits, supports, and trains volunteers and mentors to ensure effective programme delivery and associated outcomes. The role requires an empathetic, culturally responsive, proactive and solution-focused approach while networking and fostering strong community partnerships. The ideal candidate is passionate about our purpose and has strong communication and organisational skills. Key responsibilities: The Service Development Lead role is 30 hours per week and is responsible for: Triage and assess the needs of women engaged with the Centre, provide support and refer them to the appropriate internal and external services. Proactively plan, develop, and coordinate the monthly programme of courses, activities, and therapeutic supports, ensuring the Centre's offerings are diverse and inclusive. Oversee the daily operations of the SuperSkills Heretaunga programme, including assessments, matching clients with volunteer mentors and delivering one-on-one mentoring or facilitating workshops. Recruit, induct, brief, train and support volunteer mentors, course facilitators, activity coordinators and therapists. Establish and maintain active and constructive relationships with community partners. Demonstrate commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and incorporate cultural respect, sensitivity, and awareness into all service delivery. Maintain accurate records, complete administrative tasks, collect data for programme evaluation, and contribute to monthly reporting to relevant stakeholders. Engage in professional development and supervision to ensure compliance with the Centre's Code of Ethics, Health and Safety standards, and other policies. The ideal candidate will have: Proven ability in assessment, analysis, planning, and goal setting, particularly using client-centred, solution-focused, and strength-based approaches. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for effectively engaging with clients, partners, and stakeholders. Ability to build and maintain diverse community connections and stakeholder relationships. Knowledge of social and cultural issues and a strong understanding of the local community and its needs. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently while managing multiple projects. Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, ensuring responsive and effective service delivery. Capable of working independently and collaboratively within the team, with professional boundaries and good work practices. Friendly, empathetic, resilient, passionate about the Centre's purpose, committed to self-care strategies, and able to maintain confidentiality and cultural humility. At least two years of relevant experience, with a preference for a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Allied Health Care, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
