Senior Work Programme Lead - Work Programming

Details of the offer

Position Overview: Strategic and relationship-focused leadership role.
Develop and implement rolling three-year work programmes to renew, upgrade or deliver new assets within Parks and Community Facilities.Working within the Project Specialisation Office.Parks & Community Facilities (PCF) is dedicated to making great places Aucklanders love by supporting several related services such as asset maintenance, management, and renewals of Parks, Open Spaces, Buildings, Facilities, Conservation Areas, and Urban Ngahere (forest). As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities and environment while also delivering strategically significant programmes.
PCF is responsible for an extensive community assets portfolio, including community facilities and open/green spaces. As the Senior Work Programme Lead within the Project Specialisation Office (PSO) of PCF, you'll provide leadership to the Work Programme Leads within the Area Operations teams across Parks and Community Facilities, building a strong culture of collaboration by setting clear timelines and driving consistent best-practice in developing, prioritising, and programming deliverable physical works programmes with a main focus on the renewal of existing assets.
This role will also focus on asset renewal work programmes that are driven within the PSO, as well as growth and development programmes and discrete Long Term Plan projects that are developed externally to PCF, but that deliver new or upgraded PCF assets.
You'll be developing strategic rolling three-year physical works programmes that are then delivered by Project Managers. As you develop the work programmes, you'll be considering the scope of work within each project, strategic context, service needs, asset condition, high-level costing, benefits, and delivery risks, ensuring the work programmes are developed in collaboration with key stakeholders that could include Governing Body, Local Boards, and other Council teams of subject matter experts.
You'll need to build up a specific and detailed understanding of various asset portfolios that include but are not limited to landslips, sustainability, residential homes, seismic, holiday parks, Urban Ngahere, and kauri dieback and tracks.
You're able to logically navigate through complex situations and deliver under pressure, with exceptional skills in relationship management, critical thinking, and financial acumen. You'll demonstrate excellent stakeholder engagement and political acumen, with effective facilitation and presentation skills. Having worked in complex organisational environments, you'll also be confident in asset planning, financial analysis, work programming, and political report writing.
Experience in asset management (including an understanding of funding sources), physical works projects in buildings and open spaces, and developing work programmes will also come with you.
You'll be joining a team of diverse dedicated and respected experts working collaboratively across the region, who are passionate about delivering tangible results for the community and future generations. We have a culture built on trust and valuing individual as well as collective contributions. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you will have some flexibility with how those hours are set.
In return for your hard work, you can expect a flexible and supportive work environment.
If you would like to be a high-performing team player in an awesome team making a difference to Aucklanders, then join us. Apply today (telling us why you are interested and can make a difference) by cover letter along with your CV.
