Grounded in our values of empathy, integrity, and collaboration – our team culture and growth are at the center of ensuring we continue to deliver an enhanced client experience.The opportunity:Reporting to the Senior Investment Advisor, Senior Portfolio Manager at Simon Harry Wealth Management Group, the Senior Wealth Planner is responsible for the creation, execution, and maintenance of comprehensive financial plans and goals-based reporting for the team's clients.The Senior Wealth Planner plays an integral role in business development and providing value-added services, and has experience dealing with High-Net-Worth clients and Ultra High Net Worth Clients.Key responsibilities include:Delivery of Comprehensive Wealth PlansPrepare and mail introduction packages with an engagement letter, document request, and Wealth Questionnaire.Facilitates goals-based discovery process directly with existing and potential clients, helping them to articulate and identify their short and long-term goals.Leverage financial analysis to create and develop detailed wealth plans for high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients.Enter client information into planning software and generate financial plans.
Set review schedule to assess progress or implementation of recommendations or to address changes to client situation.Integrate all areas of financial planning, including cash flow, investment planning, education planning, insurance and risk management, retirement planning, tax planning, and estate planning.Work closely with client's other professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, etc.)
to ensure that client is receiving holistic advice.Recognize the importance of multi-generational wealth management.
Focus on building relationships with children, grandchildren, and siblings of current clients.Co-ordinate value-added services to enhance the client experience (ex: acknowledgement of life events).Maintain client files, ensure that all documents and notes are compliant with industry requirements.Act as a resource person for team members.Attend client events.Drive the wealth planning process and continuously look for ways to improve and enhance the client experience.Conduct discovery process through document gathering, communications with client and Investment Advisor teams, and client meeting.Review wealth plan deliverables and goals-based reporting with Investment Advisor and their clients.Identify outside assets and referral/Centers of Influence opportunities.Develop and present seminars for WA advisors and their client families on a variety of wealth planning topics.Lead the preparation of articles/reference materials on a variety of wealth planning topics as well as technical content for business development material on an occasional basis.Proactively maintain current and in-depth knowledge of all areas of the wealth planning process, including financial, education, insurance and risk management, retirement, tax, business, and estate planning.Performing other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will possess:A degree or diploma in business administration, accounting, finance, or similar field of study; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.A minimum of 7 years' experience in a wealth planning role.A strong income tax and insurance background.A professional accounting or legal designation is an asset.A professional designation such as CFP, TEP, or CLU is an asset.Experience using Conquest or NaviPlan is an asset.Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.In-depth knowledge of industry rules, regulations, policies, procedures and a commitment to stay abreast of changes.A desire to go above and beyond to exceed client expectations.An ability to exhibit a level of professionalism that allows clients to feel comfortable and able to discuss personal information.A reliable, consistent work ethic.Experience in working with ultra-high-net-worth clients, business owners, and foreign assets.An ability to keep up with Canada's overall economic and financial environment, current events and trends, and changes to legislation as it relates to income tax and wealth transfer planning.An entrepreneurial spirit to participate in continued growth, and a desire to continuously exceed client expectations.An ability to demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day-to-day work and long-term goals.A focus on building strong relationships, fostering trust, with team and clients.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to deal with numerous activities with varying degrees of priority and deadlines.Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills.Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually).An ability to understand and acknowledge highly sensitive and confidential files which must be handled appropriately.Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to benefit clients.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.Conditions of employment:Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.Must be able to travel within Canada 0-5% of the time.A background check, satisfactory to the employer, may be required of the successful applicant prior to commencing employment.Wellington-Altus Private Wealth is strongly committed to equity and diversity within its community and welcomes applications from women, racialized persons, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and genders.
