Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including:Planning and Designing: Develop comprehensive plans for drinking water, stormwater, and wastewater systems to meet the current and future needs of our community.Waters Modelling: Utilise advanced modelling techniques to predict and manage water flow, quality, and distribution.Project Leadership: Lead and oversee complex engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all projects and operations comply with local, regional, and national regulatory standards.Sustainable Practices: Advocate for and implement sustainable water management practices that promote environmental stewardship and resilience.We're looking for a Senior Waters Engineer who brings:Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or equivalent is preferred.Professional Credentials: Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineering New Zealand or eligibility to obtain CPEng registration.Technical Expertise: Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Arc GIS Pro, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, Innovyze Infoworks ICM, EPA SWMM, Innovyze Infoworks WS Pro, and DHI Mike+.Experience: 7-10 years in water engineering, with significant experience managing complex water infrastructure projects.Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of New Zealand's water management regulations, standards, and best practices.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical information clearly.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to engineering challenges.Leadership: Proven leadership skills, with experience mentoring and developing junior staff.Local Knowledge: Familiarity with local regulations, industry standards, and environmental requirements.Cultural Awareness: Knowledge of Tikanga Maori is desired.Mindset: A progressive mindset focused on continual improvement.Far North District Council is proud of our diverse workforce and is committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.
