About the RoleAre you an experienced water engineer and interested in leading the planning of New Plymouth's long-term water supply infrastructure? Bring your technical knowledge and critical thinking to this key position in our Three Waters Planning team. From ensuring our current water supply assets remain fit for purpose, to improving infrastructure resilience and providing for sustainable growth, there is plenty of challenge in this role!
ResponsibilitiesProvide expert input to development applications, structure plans for growth areas, asset management plans, and the long-term plan.Work closely with internal teams and communities and iwi to identify water infrastructure investment priorities, and to develop business cases for infrastructure funding.Lead project teams to deliver infrastructure planning projects e.g., network models, master plans, obtaining significant resource consents.Act as translator between technical and non-technical stakeholders.BenefitsForward-thinking council that's investing in its water infrastructure.Collaborative and supportive team culture.Fantastic work-life balance including flexible working and 5 weeks' annual leave.Subsidised gym membership, group medical scheme, and other health and wellbeing initiatives.Professional and career development.Skills & ExperienceDegree qualification in engineering or science.Considerable experience in the water and wastewater industry, including consultancy or council experience.A good understanding of water supply at a whole system level - able to ask the right questions!Have a knack for communicating technical concepts in plain English.Able to lead technical delivery and manage project teams and consultants.Understanding and experience working with local regulations and standards.About New Plymouth District CouncilNew Plymouth District Council serves a district population of just under 90,000 people and 30,000 households.
