Nga korero mo te turanga – About the role
You will provide quality teaching in lectures, tutorials, and laboratories. You will undertake paper administration for students enrolled in PSYCH100 Brain, Behaviour and Cognition, and PSYCH101 Social Psychology, Health and Well-being.
You will be responsible for implementing assessment of degree credit work under the supervision of the paper coordinator/convenor and you will train and supervise other sessional assistants and laboratory instructors.
The focus of the Senior Tutor role is to assist academic staff in teaching and administration. The Senior Tutor is not primarily responsible for any papers.
This is a teaching-focused position. You are not required to undertake research or complete higher degrees as part of this role, and as such are not eligible to apply for research funding. Supervision of postgraduate students is not required.
Salary will be in the range of $76,904 to $92,402 per year pro rata based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the position. This is a part-time role for 18.25 hours a week (FTE 0.5), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

You will need to be passionate about teaching and believe that the student experience should be second to none. You will also have a postgraduate qualification in Psychology and proven teaching skills at a tertiary level. Good organisation, administration, and interpersonal skills are also essential.

Te Kura Whatu Oho Mauri, the School of Psychological and Social Sciences, has a strong focus on the classic foundations of psychology, broadly construed to encompass behaviour, cognition, and indigenous psychology, both in terms of teaching and research.
