Christchurch is a rapidly changing city, be part of the team facilitating this change. We are seeking a self-motivated, customer focused individual to join the Transport Team in the Technical Services & Design Unit. TSD are a 100-person strong in-house shared service comprised of technical and design professionals who provide a range of survey, infrastructure, architectural design and construction contract management services across Council. 
About the role: As a Senior Traffic Engineer, you will provide professional traffic and transportation engineering and planning advice to Council staff, Council Committees, and Community Boards on a wide range of engineering, technical and planning issues. In addition, you will manage and coordinate the investigation and scheme design phases for significant and complex transportation and roading projects while developing and maintaining key relationships.
About you: To be successful in this role you will have a qualification in engineering or planning and be an experienced Traffic Engineer with a background in a large, diverse organisation. You will be innovative, yet pragmatic and adept at addressing the issues and implementing innovative solutions. You will have extensive report writing experience as well as solid presentation skills. You will have strong interpersonal skills and you will enjoy working in a team environment. If you are a motivated and results oriented individual, this may be the opportunity for you.

Additional information: Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $111,553 to $123,948 per annum based on a 40 hour working week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
