We are looking to appoint a flexible and enthusiastic Senior Teaching Assistant to join our expert staff team in this 7 – 11 Junior School. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to pursue a career in education and, in particular, someone who is considering a career in teaching. In the event of an absence, teachers' planning is available. Sometimes this planning may need some adaptation, and for this reason the post has been graded at a higher level than that of a cover supervisor. Our Senior Teaching Assistants work alongside our teachers to deliver units of work and lessons for any assigned classes and groups, in line with the school's curriculum. They contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school's policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the school's values and vision. Our deployment of Senior Teaching Assistants is designed to ensure continuity for children in their learning in the event of short-term staff absences. The role is varied and requires a staff member who can be both proactive and reactive. Senior Teaching Assistants are able to respond promptly to the changing needs of the school, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to become fully skilled in the delivery of any subject in any year group. Senior Teaching Assistants may begin the day teaching English in Year 3 and then finish it teaching Science in Year 5! Clearly, flexibility and adaptability are essential qualities for the role.
