Our finance team is dedicated to providing support to the business to ensure we continue to perform at a level required by our residents and shareholders. You are guaranteed to be kept on your toes.What will your responsibilities be?This is primarily a tax role reporting to the Senior Tax Manager but also has some financial accounting responsibilities working for the Financial Accounting Manager.As Summerset operates both in the New Zealand and Australian markets, the Tax Accountant role will involve tax compliance and advice for both jurisdictions. We are looking for someone who primarily has New Zealand tax experience who would be excited to also gradually build their knowledge and skills in the Australian tax space.Responsibilities are varied and include:Assist with preparation of income tax returns, GST returns, FBT returns, PAYE and RWT.Prepare written advice and document positions in relation to Summerset's key tax issues.Provide tax advice to the business in relation to ad hoc queries.Assist with preparation of Summerset's deferred tax calculations.Assist with preparation and updating of key tax process documents and assist to continue to improve the overall standard of tax governance across Summerset.Responsibility for finance review of payroll transactions including month-end journals and analysis.Financial management of Summerset's employee share plans including GL journals, record keeping and liaising with Summerset's share registry.Assistance with other month-end and financial accounting tasks where requested.Who are we looking for?Tertiary degree in accounting or tax.3+ years in a tax or accounting role.Good working knowledge of NZ tax and open to expanding knowledge of Australian tax.Excellent interpersonal skills.Great attention to detail.Self-driven and results-oriented.Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.Our purpose is to bring the best of life to our residents.
