Location: Hamilton, New Zealand (Travel Required) Reporting To: Group Manager – Projects or Operations Manager Position Type: Full-Time (On-Site | Travels within New Zealand Required) As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will oversee the implementation and ongoing support of automation and integration projects.
Your role involves staying updated with new system technologies and assisting with securing and managing relevant projects within budget constraints.
You will also assist in contract preparation, staff mentoring, group management, strategic planning, and budgeting.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning: Contribute specialist sector expertise to the development of departmental and organizational strategic plans.
Identify and implement new initiatives to support strategic objectives.
Stay informed on changes in the local business environment and emerging technologies.
Operational Management: Develop and assist with operational and capital plans for the department.
Provide input on capital requirements impacting performance and efficiency.
Mentor less experienced staff and delegate tasks appropriately.
Marketing & Business Development: Maintain customer relationships to ensure satisfaction with our services.
Foster strong relationships with key suppliers.
Project Management: Manage assigned projects, ensuring timely completion and meeting client requirements.
Apply appropriate development tools and techniques to eliminate rework and provide quality products and services.
Provide callout support and participate in the Standby Roster.
Ensure adherence to quality procedures, safety policies, and operational practices.
Financial Management: Improve engineering tools, techniques, and methods to reduce costs.
Ensure project budgets are met.
Teamwork & Communication: Collaborate constructively with team members and support management direction.
Provide accurate status reports and practice effective communication.
Continually review and refresh skills to perform duties effectively.
Innovation & Quality: Contribute to innovation and improvement initiatives.
Assist in creating quality systems documentation and implementing policies that enhance service quality.
Control System Expertise: Proficiency in Rockwell and Schneider PLC programming.
Experience with WW InTouch and Systems Platform, Ignition, RA FTView, and/or GE IFIX HMI systems.
Practical experience in Dairy, Food and Beverage, Water (Waste and Treated), and general manufacturing sectors.
Strong understanding of MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and industrial networking.
Other Responsibilities: Perform additional duties as directed.
Requirements Experience: Extensive experience in automation and integration projects, particularly with Rockwell and Schneider PLC programming.
Proven experience with WW InTouch, Systems Platform, Ignition, RA FTView, or GE IFIX HMI.
Background in Dairy, Food and Beverage, Water (Waste and Treated), and general manufacturing industries .
Good understanding of MES and industrial networking .
