Role Overview : They are currently looking to strengthen in the drafting department and require a Senior Structural Draftsperson to help tackle this growth. This role would ideally be based in their Nelson office, but they would also consider strong applicants in Christchurch or Queenstown. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional with 8+ years of New Zealand-based drafting experience who can really come in and help guide this company forward. In this position, you will aid in the development and delivery of structural design projects across a wide array of projects in the high-end residential, multistorey apartments, commercial, and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities : Produce detailed structural drawings and documentation for materials such as reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and masonry. Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other project stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality design solutions. Help mentor junior draftspersons, providing guidance on best practices and industry standards. Interpret and review structural engineering designs, converting them into precise working drawings. Assist with the preparation of construction and compliance documentation. Ensure all project deadlines are met and that drawings adhere to project specifications. Stay up-to-date with New Zealand building codes, standards, and regulations. Participate in project coordination meetings, offering input on design development and issue resolution. Manage drafting workloads across multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy. Key Skills and Experience : 8+ years of structural drafting experience in New Zealand. Proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and/or other relevant BIM tools. Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Strong technical expertise in structural materials such as timber, steel, concrete, and masonry. Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. High attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff. This is a high functioning team with a buzzing culture surrounding them.
