TBWA is looking for a talented and experienced Senior Planner to join the TBWA New Zealand in Auckland.
This is a critical role where you'll drive strategic thinking across key accounts, working closely with creative, account, and client teams.
As a Senior Planner, you will bridge the gap between insight and creativity, helping us develop breakthrough work that challenges conventions and delivers results.In addition to the smarts, skills and ambition, we're looking for someone who will bring sense of humour, fun, and add to the culture of our strategy team and wider agency.Key responsibilities:Strategic leadership: Manage and lead the strategic development for key client accounts, ensuring all campaigns are underpinned by strong insights to deliver commercial results.Insight generation: Conduct and synthesise qualitative and quantitative research to uncover insights and truths that inspire creative teams.Creative brief development: Write compelling and succinct creative briefs that clearly articulate the strategic direction and ignite the creative process.Client partnership: Act as a trusted strategic advisor for clients, helping them navigate complex challenges and offering long-term vision and planning.Collaboration with creative teams: Work closely with creative teams to inspire and ensure that work aligns with strategic direction and has the highest chance of effectiveness.Trend monitoring & cultural awareness: Stay ahead of cultural trends and industry shifts, proactively advising clients and internal teams on new opportunities.Brand & campaign development: Oversee brand planning and campaign development, ensuring work delivers against business objectives while maintaining creative integrity.Performance analysis: Evaluate campaign performance to refine future strategies and inform ongoing client work.Mentorship & development: Support the development of junior planners, providing guidance and fostering a culture of curiosity and collaboration.Thought leadership: Help the strategy team and Agency contribute to the wider advertising / marketing industry with unique, compelling points of view.Skills, Experience:Strategic mindset: Proven experience in developing effective brand strategies and campaign planning that drives measurable results.Communication skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, concise, and compelling narratives.Proactive: Ability to proactively identify new opportunities for clients and the agency, and turn them into exciting briefs.Industry knowledge: Strong knowledge of the advertising landscape, with experience in various channels including digital, social, experiential, and traditional media.Research savvy: Expertise in using research tools and methodologies to inform strategic insights and creative briefs.Creative partner: Ability to inspire and collaborate with creative teams, ensuring strategic thinking is embedded in all creative output.Client-facing experience: Comfortable presenting to and working with senior clients, with the ability to build long-term strategic relationships.Data-informed strategy: Competence in interpreting data to inform and refine creative strategies.Experience: 5+ years in a strategy/planning role, ideally within an agency environment.Why TBWA New Zealand?At TBWA New Zealand, we pride ourselves on being The Disruption Company.
